WILFRED BRIAN DEERING December 27, 1907 October 8, 2009 Peacefully on October 8, 2009, at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home, Wilfred Deering, aged 101 years, passed away. Wilfred was born in Virden, MB. At about the age of 10, his family moved to the Spearhill area (just south of Kreb's Ridge) and approximately 8 years later went to Winnipeg for a higher level of education. Wilfred received his degree in teaching and taught in Ashern, Winnipeg and surrounding areas. He also held the position of Principal at one of the many schools he taught at. He met and married Lily Elizabeth and celebrated 51 years together. She passed away in August of 1991. Wilfred operated a farm on his own property in Ashern for several years. He had moved to Winnipeg and then returned to one of the Stark homesteads east of Ashern on Hwy 325 and was proud to have his nephew Doug work the land. Wilfred lived alone on the farm for the last 15 years. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews around the world. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern, MB with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Viewing will be held one half hour prior to the service. An interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Winnipeg at approximately 2:30 pm. Pallbearers will be Doug Stark, Bruce Stark, Kurt Stark, Josh Stark, Jordan Stark and Samantha Stark.
